My Visit to Chobe Forest Camp | Kasane, Botswana

|

“IT IS A UNIQUE PLACE TO VISIT”

I recently took my first visit up to the Chobe area in Botswana. It is a unique place to visit, and it exceeded my expectations in most areas. The Kasane town is a bit disappointing as it was busier than I had thought it would be and has become a typical unsightly town. It was dusty, roads busy and the buildings looked old and tired but seeing wildlife still moving around in harmony with nature was quite unique and amazing!

The moment you are on the river or out of town, it is a completely different experience. There is a massive expansive of wilderness full of wildlife in every which way you look. It truly is something every wildlife-nature lover needs to experience.

“Booking with Chobe Forest Camp was easy”

Booking with Chobe Forest Camp was easy. A simple email enquiry and payment process swiftly secured my reservation, and I received a prompt confirmation, setting the tone for a seamless adventure.

Upon arrival at the campsite, I was impressed by the upkeep and cleanliness of the campsite as it was well maintained.

I spent 2 nights at Chobe Forest Camp which is a 25-minute drive from Kasane/Kazungula. I stayed in the luxury tent option provided and they were very good value in comparison to rates to similar accommodations in the area. It featured a king size bed (with a queen size bed underneath for families), tasteful furnishings, and spacious outdoor shower with instant hot water. The well-appointed kitchen outside the tent offered all the essentials, while enough cupboard space ensured a clutter-free stay. Both inside and outside the tent, the lighting was sufficient, allowing for easy navigation even after sunset. Bathrooms are excellent with free standing bath and outside shower with a view.

“At night, all sounds of the wild can be heard from inside the tent.”

At night, all sounds of the wild can be heard from inside the tent. Lion, elephants, baboons and spotted hyena are very vocal during the night. Birds like the nightjar and eagle owl also make their presence known during the night time.

One of the highlights of my stay was the viewing deck/hide, a haven for wildlife enthusiasts and anyone who appreciates the true unfenced wilderness that is so special about Botswana. From this vantage point which was very well furnished and had enough seating space for everyone, I witnessed many animal sightings, including elephants, kudus, Roan, Sable, baboons, Hyena and giraffes.

The service provided by the staff further enhanced my experience. Their hospitality and genuine passion for their work were evident, making me feel truly valued and cared for throughout my 2-night stay.

The camp is powered entirely by solar energy which ensured uninterrupted access to power while minimising its environmental footprint.

Each private campsite has its own dedicated ablution facilities as well, complete with a shower, toilet, and basin, ensuring privacy and convenience.

A refreshing swim in the crystal-clear pool provided a welcome rest from the day’s adventures, offering a chance to relax in the sun.

To top it off, the camp’s reception area offered reliable Wi-Fi connectivity, allowing me to stay connected with loved ones while immersing myself in the wonders of nature.

In conclusion, my experience at Chobe Forest Camp was nothing short of special. Booking was easy, the tent option I stayed in met all my needs and the wildlife sightings remain unforgettable.
